UBI CIRCLES

The use of the Circles UBI app to access Universal Basic Income (UBI) benefits can be challenging due to complex navigation, inconsistent design, and unclear user flows. This project aims to improve the user experience by simplifying navigation, ensuring design consistency, creating intuitive user flows, and offering helpful feedback and support, making it easier for vendors and community members to access and manage their UBI benefits.

Research Statement

To achieve an efficient and frequent use of Circle UBI it is important to improve the usability through intuitive navigation tools such as an organized main menu, a clear profile feature, and color categorizations. These features will motivate users to participate in shopping, exchanging, and consistently using Circles as a primary source of UBI. In addition, users require a prominent call to action strategically positioned at the bottom of the screen within thumb reach. By incorporating this feature, users can quickly and effortlessly transfer Circles, making the whole experience smoother and more inviting.

Testing the prototype

How research and testing impacted the design

Testing our prototype and conducting interviews were crucial in expanding our vision for this app and evaluating the performance of the proposed features.

The interviews definitely helped us rethink some initial ideas and reinforce others. After the interviews, we analyzed which recommendations were significant and which were less so. For example, the idea of placing the main call to action in the center of the lower menu to facilitate transfers seemed valid.

Feedback on colors, notifications, and user verification, although good suggestions, were considered secondary. The interviews broadened our perspective, and it was very interesting to conduct them with participants we didn’t know beforehand.

Main changes proposed

  • Send circles as main call to action

  • Bottom navigation organization

  • Notifications at the top

  • Less colours per page, less overwhelming

  • Add favourites trusts icon on profile
